É/VOC: building a critical lexicon of ecology
A battle of imaginations sometimes takes hold of the current ecological debate. To avoid this, we need to clarify, refine and even reinvent some of the terms used in ecological discourse. This is how the designer came up with the idea of creating a collaborative and participative website open to both professionals and private individuals.
A corpus of selected arguments will be compiled in collaboration with linguistics and general phonetics students from Science Po Poitiers. Each term will then be analyzed from a social, political, semantic and grammatical perspective. New terms will emerge, inducing a more accurate, sincere and poetic reading of the world in which we live.
This project has been selected as part of Design L'Expo 2023 and will be exhibited at La Cale 2 Créateurs from 24th January 2024 to 10th March 2024.
"The E-VOC project proposes to re-situate the origins of ecology, but also offers a tool for further analysis and reinvention. "
"Today, ecology has earned its place in public debate. Nevertheless, each of us interprets it according to our own personal interests. The E-VOC project proposes to re-situate the origins of ecology, but also offers a tool for further analysis and reinvention.
Manon Benoît has managed to meet with a wide range of experts, as well as current theorists. Through an original interface, we are invited to think more carefully about a subject that continues to invent itself." Baptiste Fluzin, Teaching Manager Media Design Lab
