What sets us apart
A major design school linked to the professional world
L'École de design Nantes Atlantique prides itself on its strong connection with the professional world (companies, public administrations, associations) in its teaching approach. This solid link allows for the professionalization of future young graduates. It takes many forms: internships, apprenticeship contracts, work on real projects in partnership with companies or local authorities, lectures by professionals, conferences, and the presence of representatives from the business world on degree juries.
A pioneer in its vision of strategic design for organizations, L'École de design Nantes Atlantique has also been supporting their transition towards more virtuous and sustainable models for many years.
An international school, a global campus
In order to encourage the cultural and creative growth of its students, L'École de design Nantes Atlantique has chosen to establish itself in the four corners of the world. It is located in Pune (India), Shanghai (China), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Montreal (Canada) and Cotonou (Benin). It has also developed partnerships with more than a hundred universities around the world to encourage its students to immerse themselves in an international environment.
Each year, international programs also allow us to welcome students of some forty nationalities to the campus in Studio France.
The school is an active member of Cumulus, the first worldwide association of design schools and is also a member of Campus France, which is in charge of promoting French higher education around the world.
In 2019, L'École de design Nantes Atlantique created the first design school in Africa, Africa Design School. It created (in 2019) in partnership with Sèmè City, the international city of innovation and knowledge.
An innovative teaching approach
In addition to its 5 Design Labs, in 2017 L'École de design Nantes Atlantique created a unit dedicated to innovation and pedagogical experimentation in teaching by and for design. Its mission is therefore both to support teaching teams in teaching design but also to use design methodologies to support educational experimentation.
Project-based teaching, transversality, transdisciplinarity, co-design... This unit enables students and teachers to develop innovative learning methods and tools and to create new teaching practices.
The school's new building on the Ile de Nantes incorporates a Learning Lab of over 200 m² dedicated to educational experimentation. The project approach is central to this space, which can be configured as needed and which is equipped with significant technological and digital resources.
It is in this Learning Lab, which is also open to the school's partners, that the school's pedagogical innovation unit prototypes training courses and accompanies student projects combining active teaching and design.
