Design for
tomorrow's world
L'École de design Nantes Atlantique trains professionals in innovation who are in touch with real life and who must imagine the world of tomorrow in order to design its uses today. Uses that they must make acceptable, but also desirable.
Designers who can imagine the world of tomorrow
Design is of course about providing innovative solutions that will improve the quality of life and well-being of users. But how can we not envisage solutions that are also, and above all, respectful of the environment and based on ethical values?
Our world is facing many transformations that represent a great opportunity for designers to explore and reflect. They mean more responsibility and awareness towards consumers and citizens in search of meaning and a positive impact on society. It is therefore necessary for designers to question the world of tomorrow in order to produce projects that are as relevant as possible from a technological and functional point of view, while also considering their societal and environmental impact.
"In an uncertain world, disrupted by environmental and societal challenges, design is a strategic issue."

"In an uncertain world, disrupted by environmental and societal challenges, design is a strategic issue. Much more than the design of a product, or a creative discipline, it is an avant-garde and creative way of thinking, which does not make assumptions and brings people together to create a desirable future." Anne Brochard, President of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique
Design allows us to show the path of possibilities by representing the scenarios of the future, a future that is embodied, optimistic and accessible. The work of designers is to draw, to represent the world of tomorrow, a world in which we wish to live together.
"Recognized for their ability to bring people together and build bridges, designers help companies make strategic choices. "

Design, a strategic discipline for innovation
Faced with these challenges, the designer is at the crossroads of the decisions taken in companies to embark on the path to a more virtuous world. Representing tomorrow's way of life allows companies to think tactically about their new products and services, but above all to guide them in their future innovation and transformation strategies.
An increasing number of designers are moving into leadership positions. Today, they are project managers, innovation managers, product managers. Tomorrow, they will be the future directors of strategy and transformation.
"Recognized for their ability to bring people together and build bridges, designers help companies make strategic choices. They know how to get engineers, marketers, financiers and other skills outside the company (sociologists, philosophers, scientists, etc.) around the table and make them think about the world of tomorrow" explains Christian Guellerin, Executive Director of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique.
As a creative, strategist and manager, the designer knows how to ask the right questions. Questions whose answers will not only serve to design an ergonomic chair, a functional table or a clever mobile application...
"For most people, design is a matter of taste and aesthetics. But design is first and foremost about asking the right questions"

A school open to the world and society
Located on the Ile de Nantes since September 2022, the new building of L'École de design Nantes Atlantique represents an opportunity to forge even closer ties with the economic world. This location in the heart of Nantes' creative district symbolizes the strategic dimension and economic value of design for the region's businesses.
Fully focused on the international scene, L'École de design Nantes Atlantique is a central player in the region's influence and attractiveness and contributes actively to Nantes' reputation as a creative capital.
"In this emblematic Creative District, we want to train committed designers who will open up new paths and new value models, which will contribute to the emergence of tomorrow's city, shake up organizations, and irrigate the fields of health, nutrition and food, digital and information. We must go further to move beyond the pioneering spirit and generalize design in order to accompany the transition of organizations towards more virtuous and sustainable models." Anne Brochard, President of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique.
