Green Up

Climate change is often perceived as a global problem and a future threat, leading to a fear reflex or denial on the part of the public. The result? Collective inaction persists.

Despite being aware of the urgency of climate change, the French lack the guidance they need to take local action. In her native Pays de Saint-Gilles on the Atlantic coast, the designer has created a local medium dedicated to climate change. This tool revisits the classic form of “traditional” media, thanks to a tailor-made mediation that infiltrates the urban space.

The content adapts to local issues, featuring constantly updated and collaborative information throughout the year. By encouraging citizen participation and organizing events, Green Up builds and mobilizes an entire community.

« How can we engage the citizens of Pays-de-Saint- Gilles in a sustainable ecological transition? Green Up, the local media, chose to talk to them about climate change and its harmful effects. The media's objective is to generate debate  around local citizen action, and then help a common ecological transition to emerge. Green Up revisits the form of traditional media, as it takes the form of mobile panels adapting to constantly evolving local issues. » Violette Vigneron, Course Leader - Master’s in Media Design
