R.E.M : Soothing the professional gamer
Young professional e-sport players have to cope with a hectic, anxiety-ridden day-to-day life without any real support. Yet they need to take care of their mental and personal well-being if they are to thrive in this intense environment and remain competitive.
R.E.M. (Rapid Eye Movement) is a video game designed as a post-training recovery session. It enables the player to make a gradual transition to sleep, thanks to different gameplay intensities.
In this game, gamers set off to explore their brain's capacities, in particular its ability to create its own dreams. By helping gamers transition into restful sleep, R.E.M reduces the effects of accumulated stress, optimizes the quality of their recovery and improves the management of their emotions on a daily basis.
This project has been selected as part of Design L'Expo 2025 and will be exhibited at La Cale 2 Créateurs from January 22 to March 9, 2025.

«E-sport, a relatively unknown and largely unsupervised environment, presents specific challenges for amateur and semi-professional players. Juliette Desmaisons has analyzed this difficult environment, marked by hectic schedules, cognitive hyperactivity and a strong mental health stigma. R.E.M (Rapid Eye Movement) is part of a responsible and innovative digital approach, without generating addiction.
