Parallel duality
The Cours des 50 otages is a major thoroughfare in the heart of the City of Nantes. However, with very little green space, no infrastructure for pedestrians, an increased risk of accidents and high noise pollution, it is not a good place to go for a stroll.
Maxime Cirio, in in bachelor interior architecture wanted to transform this thoroughfare into a model of ecological and energy transition.
He designed 2 levels:
- the ground level: designed for traffic, the itinerary is optimized with regard to safety and comfort.
- the “parallel space”: near the bus stops, platforms twist and turn like waterways. Ideal for taking a stroll, they offer a green and landscaped area to relax.
A stunning exotic garden and a bar overlooking the river Erdre complement this rich and multi-faceted experience.
This project is part of Design portfolio 2020, a selection of 36 projects from this year which bear witness to the talent, creativity and know-how developed by the students during their undergraduate studies.
