Sensaphonik
In 2020, schools classified as "Priority Education Networks" (REP) cater for 1 in 5 pupils in France. The children who attend these schools sometimes have difficult lives. Coming from large, sometimes single-parent families, some of them do not speak French. For them, learning is a complicated exercise. These children are impulsive and emotionally fragile, and can often "overflow" in an unpredictable way in class.
Sensaphonik was created for these children. The project capitalizes on the imaginative power of music to help them release their emotions, listen to each other and develop their sense of empathy. Classroom games of listening to music gradually guide them towards better management of their emotions in crisis situations.
This project has been selected as part of Design L'Expo 2022 and will be exhibited at La Cale 2 Créateurs from 3 December 2022 to 26 February 2023.
"
Like Ivan Illich's user-friendly tools, Sensaphonik respects and extends the autonomy of children.
"
"Sensaphonik innovates by linking several existing uses. This project preserves and develops the attention of its young users: you have to be silent to listen properly! It encourages their free expression and renews dialogues between teachers and pupils. Like Ivan Illich's user-friendly tools, Sensaphonik respects and extends the autonomy of children. Thus, they are invited to contribute to the musical composition of the sound extracts played, thus completing the cycle of play and creative expression."
