Students join the China Studio in Shanghai
A dozen students join the China Studio
10 of the school's students joined the China Studio to take part in the “International Design Strategy” master's level degree program in Shanghai!
The China Studio is part of the Shanghai University campus, within the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts building, open to all Master's and PhD students.
The cohabitation of tradition and technology, architecture and heritage, a changing economy... Students will learn to better understand the Chinese market in order to decipher its uses and propose a coherent project, adapted to the target, with an anthropological approach to design.
During their first weeks of integration, they had the opportunity to :
- Introduce themselves to all the international students, in the presence of Christian Guellerin, director of L'École de design Nantes Atlantique, and the two vice-deans of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts,
- Participate in two conferences led by anthropologist Dr. Karolina Pawlik on transculturality and the advantages of studying design in Shanghai,
- Take part in a “culture shock” workshop to better understand the cultural differences between China and France, and learn to observe and analyze their environment,
- Take part in an introductory calligraphy workshop organized by the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and led by former students of the university,
Attend a talk by Fernanda Sung on creating a jewelry brand. Fernanda Sung draws inspiration from Chinese cultural heritage, as well as Shanghai's architectural and Art Deco elements.
Discover the exhibition “From Shanghai to Paris: The artistic journey of Pan Yulin”, illustrating the transculturality of a Chinese painter of the 1920s.
Discover the immersive exhibition “The art of Chinese puppetry”, created by the Temple of Light, projecting various shadow theater scenes.
Take part in a weekly Mandarin class, a dyeing workshop and a reading workshop on the history of Shanghai with a doctoral student
Enjoy a typical meal in a restaurant and learn the rules of good table manners.

Our “International Design Strategy” master's level degree programs, offered in the school's international studios, aim to prepare our students for an international career. All our postgraduate studies lead to a master's level degree approved by the French Ministry of Higher Education and registered with the RNCP at the highest level. It confers the grade of Master.
