All designers: Clara Bove, Research scientist expert at AXA
The career of an expert research scientist
Clara Bove, who graduated in 2015, has charted a remarkable career path, navigating with ease between the worlds of design and artificial intelligence (AI) research. Her path reflects a unique combination of skills and experience, highlighting the rapidly evolving needs and challenges in the field of service design and AI
"As the technological landscape continues to evolve, my career path illustrates the growing importance of an integrated approach to design and technology."
This interview is part of the All Designers publication launched by the school to highlight the inspiring careers of 18 alumni and discover their vision of design in the face of technological, environmental and societal challenges.
Using Research, Design and AI to develop financial products
After graduating, Clara began with a course in Interactivity, focusing mainly on service design. She felt the need to embrace a more global approach to design by joining the Information Design program, in a double degree course with IAE Nantes specializing in innovation management. This decision was motivated by her desire to deepen her knowledge and explore new academic and scholarly horizons.
Her end-of-studies internship experience at Upperquad in San Francisco was a turning point. Working in a prestigious design studio, Clara was exposed to innovative projects for tech giants such as Google, Facebook and Twitter. Despite the excitement of working at the heart of technological innovation, she realized that her real interest lay in the societal impact of design and AI.
Returning to France, Clara found her calling at Publicis Sapiens and then AXA, where she was able to put her skills into practice as a UX/UI designer. Her role at AXA led her to explore new frontiers, including integrating emerging technologies such as AIinto the design process for financial products.
An integrated approach to design and technology to understand the AI revolution
It was within this culture of innovation at AXA that Clara found her new passion: AI research. With the support of her employer and La Sorbonne University's Laboratoire Informatique de Paris 6 (LIP6), she embarked on a thesis on "the explainability of complex algorithms" to explore and better understand the
AI revolution. Her interdisciplinary work demonstrates her commitment to bridging the gap between technology and people.
More recently, Clara has embarked on a new research adventure in generative AI, underlining her ongoing commitment to innovation and the search for solutions to build more confident and intuitive human-AI interactions.
Her career reflects a resolutely collaborative and adaptable approach, essential characteristics for navigating an ever-changing environment. As a Research Scientist Expert at AXA, Clara embodies the fusion of user-centered design and AI research, shaping the future of user experience in a world
increasingly driven by this disruptive technology.
“As the technological landscape continues to evolve, my career path illustrates the growing importance of an integrated approach to design and technology, highlighting the transformative potential of this convergence for the future of our society”, explains Clara.
