FLOWTER: the second life of water sports equipment
Every year, some 30,000 tonnes of water sports equipment are thrown away. Surprisingly, while water sports enthusiasts are looking for the best possible playground, they are themselves contributing to the pollution and disruption of this ecosystem.
Flowter brings together water sports enthusiasts and supports them in protecting their environment. In dedicated areas on the coast, they can extend the life of their sports equipment. The creation of new equipment, and the repair and maintenance of sports equipment, enable sports enthusiasts to become more autonomous and eco-responsible. The entire watersports ecosystem is involved in Flowter: brands, clubs, associations and project partners.
This project has been selected as part of Design L'Expo 2023 and will be exhibited at La Cale 2 Créateurs from 24th January 2024 to 10th March 2024.

"Practiced in their natural environment, board sports are currently falling victim to climate change. Sports enthusiasts themselves are contributing to this disruption by using equipment that degrades local biodiversity. What a paradox!
To successfully complete this project, Joanna Iskander analyzed all existing coastal spaces and met with numerous users. She has come up with a relevant and constructive solution that puts people at the heart of the process. Instead of proposing a technical solution, she suggests a new way forward: a second life for these products." Bastien Perdriault, Course Leasder for the Care Design Master’s program
