Carousel workshop during cumulus

The carousel workshop during the Cumulus Conference in Nantes

Watch the video to discover this multicultural project led by the carousel network with Zoe Lacey, Head of international relations at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique, Firth Richard, Product Design Teacher at Edinburgh Napier University, and three students Wouter IgodtBorys Burek and Victoria Braud!

The Carousel network was created during a Cumulus conference 15 years ago. It brings together seven European design schools in a dynamic of academic exchange. Every year, it organizes intercultural workshops that give students the opportunity to travel, collaborate, and co-create on innovative design projects.

"

Opening their minds to new languages, cultures, ways of working, design methodologies is beneficial for designers.

Sharing culture through storytelling

In June 2025, our students in space design, product design and UX design took part in a workshop in international teams with students from four other European design schools (Spain, Poland, Belgium, and Scotland). Their mission? To design experiences that create meaningful connections between communities.

Students had to explore the city of Nantes and its culture through various forms of storytelling. Over three days of workshop, they collected, shared, and interpreted historical, cultural, and local stories, and transcribed them through objects, spaces, or digital interfaces.

This workshop celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Carousel network, during the cumulus spring conference which took place in Nantes in June 2025.
