Mum
The public space, common to all, is a place of transit and gathering. It sets the scene for our urban life and stimulates social interaction. The more pleasant the environment, the more positive the interactions between citizens.
That is why Clara designed a range of mobile urban furniture, Mum, with a playful, creative and lively identity. Aimed at local authorities, it is modular and allows for a wide variety of layouts and uses.
Its bevelled shape suggests a gap to be filled. The solid and hollow parts make it possible to assemble laterally or vertically. Finally, the addition of modules influences the choice of activity: sitting, playing, socializing, being alone, or simply soaking up some rays...
"Clara’s project raises the question of the user in the process of creating urban furniture."
"Clara’s project raises the question of the user in the process of creating urban furniture. With a strong focus on urban experimentation, Clara’s approach questions the methods of fine-tuning the adaptability and appropriation of public space through furniture.
How to support the maintenance and creation of social links in public space through furniture? How to identify if the project is relevant, appropriate and sustainable? How to measure its impact? The reflection is part of an exploration of indicators of impact and project evaluation.
Clara prototyped her urban modules, putting them in situation to test their uses in different contexts. The results of her experiments feed both the creative iteration process and the research of evaluation indicators of urban experiments.
Clara is pursuing this initiative within SAMOA for her end of studies internship." Anaïs Jacquard - Teaching Manager Master City Design
