Specialised Master’s Biosourced composites: innovation and eco-design

The Specialized Master® Biosourced Composites: Innovation and Eco-design trains high-level executives in the field of innovative composite materials taking into account the challenges of sustainable development.

Program objectives

The Specialized Master® Biosourced Composites: Innovation and Eco-design trains high-level executives in the field of innovative composite materials taking into account the challenges of sustainable development.

This level 7 title is accredited by the Specialized Master® Conference of the Grandes Ecoles (CGE). All courses are given in English. It is organized in partnership with the Nantes Atlantique School of Design.

These new composites made from renewable plant resources are being developed to meet the needs of industry. Indeed, companies are actively looking for innovative solutions to develop their products and make them sustainable.

What is a Specialized Master ® (MS) ?

It is a training of expertise that allows the acquisition of in-depth knowledge in a specific field of activity or skill. The label "Specialized Master ®" is granted by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, attesting to the quality of the training.

Program provided by the École Supérieure du Bois (ESB), in partnership with L’École de design Nantes Atlantique.

Curriculum

This program is organized to provide trainees with a theoretical, experimental and professional educational framework in the field of biosourced composites.
The lessons are broken down into thematic periods, with cross-sector and theoretical contributions according to a life-cycle analysis (LCA) approach.

Biosourced materials including wood and its derivatives, combined with the tools available in our training facilities (workshops, labs), enable the training to encompass design and implementation (prototyping) dimensions.
The diversity of trainee profiles (employees, students, foreigners) and the project-based instruction method promote learning through action, interdisciplinarity and the emergence of eco-innovation.

Acquired skills through the program

This Specialized Master’s® relies on an interdisciplinary programme driven by an eco-innovation approach. At the end of the program, graduates will be capable of:

  • Innovating and eco-designing materials/products/services derived from renewable resources.
  • Developing and optimizing product or process solutions taking into account the challenges of sustainable development and the possibilities offered by new technologies.
  • Implementing and managing a project in open collaborative mode.
  • Managing an interdisciplinary approach and promoting the emergence of transdisciplinarity.
  • Rolling out an innovation initiative.
  • Leading an eco-design approach using creativity and design tools and methods.
  • Taking into account regulatory requirements relating to society and the environment in particular.
  • Capturing knowledge (collection, modeling, representation, expertise) with the aim of transferring it on the job.
  • Providing material solutions for various areas of activity by understanding their specific characteristics and needs
