3 international students tell us about their experience at the school

Studying at an international design school

Want to discover design in France in a multicultural context? Le Yi (chinese student), Timothy (indonesian student) and Christophe (libaneon student), tell us about their daily lives as international students at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique!

Why study in Nantes?

Le Yi: "I think Nantes is a good place because the atmosphere here is really good. The people I met are all warm and kind. I usually go to a botanical garden called the 'Jardin des Plantes', which is my favorite place in Nantes."

Christophe: "The city has its own charm. I like to be next to the sea, I like to do one thing: get lost in the city and discover and try to find my way."

Timothy: "Honestly, my experience here has been amazing. I enjoyed the atmosphere here in the city and I met friends that I did not expect to meet. I enjoy Nantes because, for example, I love one of its famous landmarks, the Nantes Elephant. I think every time I go to campus, I always pass by there just to see it basically."

Le Yi (chinese student), Timothy (indonesian student) and Christophe (Lebanese student), tell us about about their experience at the school!

Why study in an international class?

Le Yi: "There are many exchange students. We are talking about languages or different cultures from their country, so it's really interesting for me.

Maybe in China, we are emphasizing on functionality or business value and here I learned the graphic design. This is also important for one project. It values me a lot."

Timothy: "I get to learn a lot of cultures, not only French culture. I get to learn from various countries, for example, India and from different cultures as well, from Korea for instance.

It's interesting because we have our own work ethics as well, so I think that's what makes it interesting the most, especially that we are now in a professional industry.

For example, in Indonesia, we're very maximalist, I guess, sometimes. In French design, I think it's more minimalist, so it's more of a balance between those two."

Christophe: "Mixed of these cultures will help us discover ourselves and enlarge our point of view and perspective.

It's another scale, another approach, another timing. Here, there is a bigger importance of focus on the user.Every country has its own procedure or vision and design, and here in the school, the methodology of design mixes it all and takes it into consideration."
