Peps

Taste... but not as you know it!

Peps is an innovative response to the challenges faced by people suffering from dysosmia (loss or impairment of the sense of smell).

Did you know that over 10% of French people suffer from dysosmia? For them, meals often become tiresome and monotonous, as the sense of smell plays a major role (over 60%) in the pleasure derived from eating.

Peps sets itself apart with a range of condiments that stimulate the trigeminal nerve, the nerve that activates sensations of freshness, tingling or warmth in the mouth.

By capitalizing on these sensations that are also felt by people with dysosmia, Peps opens the door to a new and inclusive sensory world.

Accessible to all, Peps takes up the challenge of a new taste experience that could well become hugely popular.

« Mindful of individual needs, Adrien dedicated his end of studies project to the eating habits of people with dysosmia. His scientific research led him to discover trigeminal sensations, located on the palate.  Irrespective of smell or taste, they provide pungent, cool, astringent or fizzing sensations in the mouth. With the help of experts and a chef, Adrien has designed Peps: a healthy flavor enhancer and range of taste enhancers for people with dysosmia. A committed and inclusive project, Peps takes up the challenge of giving taste sensations back to those who lack them» Julia Kunkel, Director of the Food Design Lab
