Fischain
Over the last 50 years, the excessive exploitation of the seabed has destroyed the seas and the species that live there. By 2050, we will almost certainly experience a shortage of fish. However, some fishermen practice reasoned and sustainable fishing. Fischain aims to encourage them by promoting their good practices.
This application gives the "good fisherman" traceability, recorded history and automated labeling of his catch. Fischain generates regulatory labels for sale mentioning the name of the fish, the date, the area and the fishing method. This 100% digital and transparent labeling system, a valuable tool for discerning consumers, is a first.

This is a virtuous project, because it strongly promotes a product and an industry: fishing.

« Fishain is a sustainable solution for fishing traceability: from the net to the plate, from fisherman to consumer.
Today, digital means make it possible to link all the parameters into a secure data system. This is a virtuous project, because it strongly promotes a product and an industry: fishing.
Mathis, who has experience working in a fishmonger’s shop, was able to transform his observations into a designer’s standpoint. Understanding the expressed need, he used a systemic approach to create. His application adapts to the constraints of the trade: the location and classification of species occur in real time. He deploys a protean and economical solution, from printed labels to augmented data on the stall.
The side effects are to be taken into account and this project has a strong market potential. It was also praised by the jury of professionals during the final degree defense. The ecosystemic value of preserving maritime biodiversity will have an undeniable influence in the future balancing of our impact. Fishermen will play a key role in this. » Arnaud Le Roi, Teaching Manager Digital Design Lab. Voir l'interview vidéo
