Peli Pelo
This project was born of an encounter. That of Pauline with a 7-year-old boy, hit hard by ill health and yet endowed with an incredible strength of life. With the support of the Leaf association and the CHU of Nantes, she has designed a support solution for children hospitalized in oncopediatrics. Peli Pelo is an app that makes them more independent in their life and care journeys.
This diary, consisting of a fun chart and customizable cards, offers the child a visualization of his or her own progress. The child can classify and search for information that will help him or her regain a sense of power, despite the challenges they face.
This project was selected as part of Design L'Expo 2021 and was exhibited at La Cale 2 Créateurs from 4 December 2021 to 27 February 2022.
"The Nantes University Hospital has been conducting tests since March 2021, and they confirm a clear improvement in the involvement of young patients."
" Peli Pelo is a design project that helps hospitalized children have a better experience in their care journey.
Pauline Hanouzet has carried out extensive work in pediatric oncology, working with these children, their parents, parents’ associations and health professionals. She has designed a co-design protocol, including the creation of a narrative board game. By telling fictional stories, the children deliver their own experiences. Pauline thus allowed them to share their testimonies without undergoing any emotional upheaval.
Peli-Pelo combines an object and its application: the object is a weekly calendar composed of tiles. The child incorporates his or her personal care journey, emotions and desires. The Nantes University Hospital has been conducting tests since March 2021, and they confirm a clear improvement in the involvement of young patients.
The application then guides the child to educational content that helps them better understand their disease. Pauline’s end of studies internship is thus taking shape, in collaboration with the LEAF association and the Nantes University Hospital." Simon Boussard - Teaching Manager Master's degree Care Design
