The “Distroal” project presented by Thomas Deneufbourg and Adrien Gallois won first prize in the SILMO Paris Optical Design competition in 2025!
These two young designers, trained at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique, focused on people with autism spectrum disorder and anxiety disorders, going beyond the simple design of eyewear.
Thanks to the multiple technologies integrated into these glasses and their app, “Distroal,” which means “calming” in Breton, aims to address various issues related to hypersensitivity to light and sound during sudden and unpredictable changes in environment. These glasses are also designed to limit anxiety-inducing behaviors and panic attacks that people with ASD may experience.

The SILMO Optical Design Competition stimulates creativity in a socially conscious design approach. This competition invites students from design schools around the world to come up with innovative designs for eyewear. Building on the high standards set by previous editions, this third edition introduces a new theme: the evolving role of eyewear as an accessory.
